1971: Your photographer, a fifteen-year-old with a second-hand film camera, covers Pierre Trudeau's rally at a local high school. Intrigued by what develops in the lens, he makes 42 seconds of the Prime Minister's undivided attention last forever.
2026: Hoisting modern equipment above the crowd at another Pierre’s rally in the same town, your photographer remains intrigued by everything developing in his lens. A lifetime of vision, exposing honest proof of character to outlast generations to come.
behind the lens
It began in a home darkroom in 1966 mixing black and white chemistry. By 1970, developing colour photos helped pay for a Yashica-Mat 124. The Yashica’s twin lenses focused momentarily on Pierre Elliott Trudeau during a 1971 visit to Pauline Johnson. This early film experience laid the foundation for colour technic, established as a Brantford photo lab in 1975.
Realizing photography’s future lay in physics overtaking chemistry prompted a transition in the 1980s. The lab segued into decades of electronics engineering and video imaging. Today, that technical breadth serves with purpose: applying science with sensor technology to resolve the full picture.
